Ellie Enjoy the September Backyard

It is amazing that we are into the third week of October and it is too cold to go outside! Gosh, it makes you appreciate those mornings when Ellie could pop out in the backyard and run around.

She sees and hears everything:
Birds: She says, "caw, caw, caw"
Kitties: She greets Isaac the cat by name, she also readily points out the gray kittle that lives next door
Planes: She hears them then points them out in the sky
Church Bells: I think she will be musical as she always pauses to listen the the songs played by the cathedral on the hour
Squirrels: Who have been busy collecting apples and pears (and Peppers!) from our yard for the winter.
Children: This might be the thing that excited our girl most. When she hears children playing nearby, she wants to be part of the action. She has uttered, "EMMA" several times when we see the little six year old who lives down the street.

Ellie is still doing a lot of pointing. She has a great vocabulary and apparently understands almost everything we say, but doesn't want to speak these words outloud. She is an interesting combination of enthusiasm with restraint-- I find she stays "within" herself in terms of being safe most of the time. She doesn't push the envelope with speaking either. We encourage her to use her words and they are increasing and she is frequently repeating new words all time.

A few weeks ago at some friends house, Elie looked into 7-month Cormac McDonald's eyes, pointed to chest and said, "Ellie". This self aware little creature continues to dazzle and surprise me.
