Yes people, we have been cleaning her daily with sponge baths and soaking her bottom in a tiny tub, but this is her first official bath in our real claw foot tub. She began the bath in a horrible mood, screaming bloody murder (we had just returned from a nice walk around the neighborhood and she realized she was hungry). But after a moment or two and a little snack from mom's fast food outlets, a strange quiet came over our little heroine and she seemed quite at ease. See for yourself. Bath times are the best!
So for those of you following such things, Ellie turns four weeks old on Saturday. It's hard to believe that it was four weeks ago that Ellie arrived at 9:30 in the morning after a long night of labor. What a joy it was to meet her, Zach and Grandma Paula were in tears and Darby was simply relieved to be done pushing, but so happy to hold her and kiss Ellie's face. Ellie was (and still is) perfect. We are grateful to God for this wonderful little blessing!
It was a wonderful morning to welcome Ellie into to the world and to our comfortable hospital room with the view of Sleeping Giant. Aunt Morgan was waiting outside and got to come in to wish Ellie happy birthday (she would be the MVP later that night when she stayed up all night taking care of Zach, Darby AND Ellie). Later that day Grandpa made it and proved he has a magic touch with his granddaughter, holding her for a long time and watching big dark clouds come into the Helena Valley resulting in a spectacular show of lightning. Darby ate vanilla pudding and all was right with the world.
Since then, Ellie has had a lot of love from Grandmas and pooped (with great affection) on Grandma Pam, been to both Zach and Darby's place of work, she got to bond with her Uncle Adam and she has peed and pooped all over her pediatrician. At just a month old, there are still so many firsts, so many adventures ahead!!
